Sue Webber MSP criticises SNP MSP for Lothian Buses comments

Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP Sue Webber for the Lothian Region has criticised the Glasgow Cathcart SNP MSP James Dornan for his outrageous comments about Lothian Buses cancelling services on the evening of March 17.

It was well known that Lothian Buses had been involved in several incidents in which buses and drivers were targeted by anti-social groups of young people, with bricks thrown through bus windows. Over a six-week investigation into 127 incidents, 38 children and young people were charged with a variety of offences allegedly related to the anti-social attacks.

Sue was extremely disappointed to hear Dornan claim in the Scottish Parliament chamber last week that Lothian Buses cancelled their services on the evening of March 17 as a result of it being St Patrick’s day, implying that Lothian Buses are anti-Irish or anti-Catholic, and has asked him to publicly apologise.

Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP Sue Webber said: “Lothian Buses made the decision to remove services after 7pm on March 17 due to concern for the safety of their colleagues. Knowing this, it is unacceptable for James Dornan to have made these claims and I condemn his comments. I stand in solidarity with Lothian Buses and the fantastic service they offer across our wonderful capital city.

“I am calling on him to apologise to the Scottish Parliament and to Lothian Buses and their employees for these unfair, and unjust comments. This is not the sort of behaviour that is acceptable from an elected politician.”

Anyone who has seen the horrific video of a schoolgirl assaulting another pupil at Waid Academy in Anstruther must wonder what on earth is going on in our schools. That another pupil chose to film the attack and post it on social media, rather than getting help, only makes it worse.
