Tennis courts in Juniper Green have reopened as of the 5th May following state-of-the-art renovations worth £100k, thanks to a major fundraising drive by the local tennis club.
Almost £50k was raised by Juniper Green Tennis Club, matched by grant funding from the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), to carry out extensive work on the two courts. This includes resurfacing, repainting, new fencing, nets and a smart entrance gate.
Local MSP Sue Webber has been working with Juniper Green Tennis Club to help deliver these upgrades and is extremely pleased that residents will be able to enjoy their facilities once again.
She stated that these facilities are “vital” for communities like Juniper Green, encouraging both young and old to get out there and enjoy the courts this summer.
Scottish Conservative MSP for the Lothian Region & former councillor for Pentland Hills Ward, Sue Webber, said:
“I am delighted to see that the Juniper Green Tennis Club upgrades have been installed and will be ready for local residents to use.”
“The club offers a wide range of coaching for all age groups, with courts also able to be booked throughout the day. The club also has a variety of memberships available for those who want to attend regularly.”
“Facilities such as these are vital for local communities and help provide both fun and exercise for all age groups. Perhaps the next Wimbledon Champion will be from Juniper Green!”
